"#MeToo" is different from general social movements, there is no organization exists. The majority of sexual assault and harassment survivors include the hashtag #MeToo in their social media posts. Sexual assault and harassment victims tell their stories while using their true names, assert a claim and tell a tale. MeToo has been successful in generating public discourse and attention, raising awareness of sexual crimes, letting victims and survivors know they are not alone, and assisting society in de-stigmatizing survivors.

The hashtag #MeToo has been used in posts on several social media sites, including Twitter and Instagram, to convey a variety of messages intended to unite the public. Many were inspired to add #MeToo to their posts and share their experiences after Alyssa Milano urged other celebrities to speak out about their experiences.

There is a moral obligation to involve others in the #MeToo movement in addition to encouraging more people to do so by including the #MeToo hashtag in social media messages.

For instance, Seo Ji-hyun, the original proponent of the #MeToo movement in South Korea, concurred with Shiori Ito and Choi Young-mi that she could no longer accept unjust acts like sexual assault and harassment and made the decision to act despite backlash from the public and abuse from others. Seo Ji-hyun revealed her superiors' sexual harassment on a TV program after being inspired by the idea of Shiori Ito stepping forward to talk about her victimization in the conservative Japanese society.

Apart from Seo, Lui Lai Yiu, a Hong Kong female hurdler athlete, was inspired by the experience of being sexually assaulted by a team doctor, which made McKayla Maroney, a gold medalist in Olympic gymnastics, stand out on social media. She was determined about speaking the truth in the hopes of raising awareness about child sexual abuse and inspiring other unfortunate victims to bravely speak out.

Too many sexual attack and harassment victims believe that there is no legal recourse or avenue for justice under the current system, leaving them with no choice but to represent society through the fourth power of the media and outside of it. This is what gave rise to the "#MeToo" movement. Before MeToo, stigmatization of sexual attack survivors was a possibility. For instance, they might be made fun of for thinking their bodies were contaminated or charged of being to blame for their own actions. This indicates that a significant portion of sexual attack survivors keep their experiences private. Let alone contact the police.

For instance, Lui Lai Yiu, a Hong Kong female hurdler athlete, posted on Facebook that she was sexually assaulted by her former coach many years ago and that she chose not to report the incident to the authorities. She only disclosed it to one very close friend. After #MeToo, she was courage to stand up. She wishes that #MeToo touches and burns more victims in order to expose the truth of the offenders.
